Why wouldn't you go for something far lower in price as a starter model? These bikes are quite expensive and if you find you don't like it then well you just poured in a huge amount of cash into something that you may never use. I would suggest going to a local bike shop and check out some of their Kona's or Norco's rather than waste so much on something you may not even enjoy doing.
