Micro transactions... in TC:E... Okay... I can see where you are going. I can totally understand how that could be implemented. Actually, I don't, but let's presume I do. So, who gets the money? Coroner? Diane? The rest of the team that is nowhere to be found? Go figure. :|

This isn't really saying anything.

I mean, what's the argument? A game can become popular if it implements micro transactions?
There's more than that, the games on the list are either pioneers in their field, recognized brand names or simply quality games which people like to play.

And what about TC:E? Where is the dev team behind it? Who will update the game to today's standards or make it standalone at least?

The thing is that to have a game with microtransactions, you need:

1 - A solid, bug-free game - which TCE is actually very close to.

2 - A dedicated team, watching over possible bugs and hacks in the game.

3 - An accounting department, coders dedicated to the banking part of the game, or enough money to hire a company to do this.

Basically it goes far beyond the scope of the hobby project that TCE is....

Is not possible due to it's current server model :
Gamer connects to server, server provides downloads (needs to be a central system)
IDtech engine TC runs on has at least 5 published zerodays on serverside

Too riscy : A company costs 800-1K pr year to maintain MINIMUM
You don't need an army of accountants, one will suffice. If there's no good
plan to get at least these costs covered : DON'T !

If you use a model where all content providers of this 'marketplace' will receive
proceedings to their Paypal account you don't have to register a company.
You can use a standard cart system for all I care something like Zcart or something.

It's the part on the IDtech engine that would be the most work, you basically need
to change the whole principle of the servers. Doing this for the max 40 that drop in
to play ? Which would bring us to the main principle of a marketplace :
supply and demand.

My suggestion :
Make a seperate thread.
Post the list of textures and models used by TC & CQB that are in the WE:T folders.
For each item replaced, document it's source !!!
If the list is complete : Pack it as a stand-alone and go from there.
Concentrate on the things you don't need Coroner for...
