Okay, before you go all"there is no single player" on me, let me explain: how about a basic obstacle cource with signs all over that tell you what to do? i.e. teling you how to move around at the beginning. for advanced things (shooting) make it OBJ, and teach them how to find the crate, and have them shoot something to get in. similar with ladders, etc. just a little thought I had. |

Well, that hard part is, the single player part of the code used by WET has absolutely no sp code. That means TT would have to write one from scratch. This is not a simple matter of bots, because bots run on online servers. |

what I mean is, just a map that you can play or host on a server. or play locally. |

I don't think you need SP code in order to run a training mission. Though, the dev's could add an option on the main menu that has several maps that only allows one player. But still, it would be much better with SP code which is another problem for the dev's to live through. ~Silentcrisis |

this is pretty neat idea, i had this kind of idea in my head too, but instead of making a hole obstacle course, why not just stick with "i.e." telling you what to do.... or another option is, a pop up with the game instruction in it, layout of the popup should look proper, it should fit with the rest of the interface, menu's ect. ect. in this instruction popup window, noobs can read stuff about how to aim, how to toggle how to crawl, ect. ect. this popup will appear about 4 times on each start of a new match, and it will eventually disappear, so evrytime you, or a new player just installed this mod, that instruction pop-up will appear 4 times, 1 time one each round of a new match. this will prevent new players shooting without the ironsight, and yes some new players arent so intuitive with new games P.S. can some mod please put this in the gameplay discussion topic, that would be more appropriate.. |

Dragonathan wrote: this is pretty neat idea, i had this kind of idea in my head too, Oh, sweet Lord of Heaven... Oh, I shall bear this one moment. *Read's through post* Well, it's a good idea Dragon. Except you DIDN'T read our posts. You would need Single Player code which, with this engine, would be a bitch to write. So, I'm not turning down your idea... I'm saying that it's unrealistic. So this practically means that I don't turn down any of your ideas. ![]() [quote="Dragonathon"] P.S. can some mod pelase put this in the gameplay discussion topic, that would be mroe appropriate.. No, because this is about mapping. It's appropriate right where it is. |

Maybe we should try to get Carmack to explain this himself. Maybe he, dragon will believe. |

okay, what I'm suggesting is just a map. a plain old mappy Mcmap, with signs that tell you what to do (or pop-ups like the objective ones in ET.) and stuff, but without bots, that you play on your own, like hosting a server lcally, and it teaches you the fundamentals. it's hard to explain. I'll make a quick picture (or two) in paint to show you what I mean... |

How do we teach non-pros how to open maps offline? I mean, we know how to do that but we cant expect them to be able to do it easily. |

Carmack doesn't need to show off his intelligence. And Dragon doesn't have to show off his stupidity. Dragon just needs to read everyone's post thoroughly before he makes decisions about what to post. He also has to get the idea out of his head that everything he says should be taken seriously or that he can mock someone who challenges his idea. ~Silentcrisis |

Okay then. This thread has potential, but not during the time. Maybe bring this up after the release of 0.49 and for the discussion of 0.50 a lot could be talked about this. ![]() ~Silentcrisis |
