Hi everyone! I put together a standalone version of q3tc. It's by no means a great achievement, I basically compiled ioquake3 with the standalone option, and gathered from reaction quake 3 (they do allow redistributing files with some restrictions) and openarena (creative commons), all that was necessary to run the game without any Quake 3 resources. Windows and Linux binaries included, source code too. FIXED DOWNLOAD LINK There might be a few missing textures and some glitches, but the game is playable. I tried to contact coroner to ask him his opinion about this, but didnt get a reply in two months. Cheers ! |

The q3tc 1.x series has been coded by guy called Acrid. And as far as I know, he lost the sources in hard drive failure.. |

The "included source" part is only relative to the quake 3 engine. The mod itself remains a compiled "blob". luka wrote: LOL HDD failure why all devs use this as excuse ? He doesn't need an "excuse" at all. Q3TC was one of the best mods ever and IMO a breakthrough in realistic FPS. If a coder doesn't want to or cannot share his source code he's perfectly entitled to it. |

Lol, you got to realize, back in those days, PC backup wasn't so cheap or common. We all lost a lot of code back then do to HDD failure. As for Acrid, I never saw him play much, and that was years ago. Like a lot of the other developers, he's probably disappeared into the sunset. |
