Hi everyone!

I put together a standalone version of q3tc. It's by no means a great achievement, I basically compiled ioquake3 with the standalone option, and gathered from reaction quake 3 (they do allow redistributing files with some restrictions) and openarena (creative commons), all that was necessary to run the game without any Quake 3 resources.

Windows and Linux binaries included, source code too.

FIXED DOWNLOAD LINK

There might be a few missing textures and some glitches, but the game is playable.

I tried to contact coroner to ask him his opinion about this, but didnt get a reply in two months.

Cheers !

The q3tc 1.x series has been coded by guy called Acrid. And as far as I know, he lost the sources in hard drive failure..

Indeed. The "included source" part is only relative to the quake 3 engine. The mod itself remains a compiled "blob".

He doesn't need an "excuse" at all. Q3TC was one of the best mods ever and IMO a breakthrough in realistic FPS. If a coder doesn't want to or cannot share his source code he's perfectly entitled to it.

Lol, you got to realize, back in those days, PC backup wasn't so cheap or common. We all lost a lot of code back then do to HDD failure.

As for Acrid, I never saw him play much, and that was years ago. Like a lot of the other developers, he's probably disappeared into the sunset.
