I'ts kinda like a slap in the face to the devs, who spend thier time to create something better for the players.
Slap in who's face? the ones who created .46, .47 or .48? What about them? Look I aim to have a 0.490 server as well just not as easy to explain to those who like to bounce around from one patch to another. I am simply saying in order to play them
both .48 and .49 you would have to make two instances of et for this to occur. Whereas the et patches are easy to bounce around on because they are true patches or upgrades. The new .490 shouldn't be considered an upgrade to .48 when it's all new pak.pk3's.
So what would you expect everyone to drive the latest model of car? So they don't upset the car makers? .48 is just fine for some players and just maybe they don't have the system to upgrade to .49 does require more ram when some guys are getting away with the bare minimum as it stands. Are you saying there is no room for .48 that everyone should go to .49? why can't there be both? Sometimes better is what used to be and always whats to come. Ever play any of those rom emulators? what would you say to them?
Well...with this sort of performance upgrade, you'd have to expect this stratification to occur. I mean...it IS a big quality increase we're looking at here. As of now, I'm quite delighted to know that 0.49 does not deny me, but I already find the sunny look of its maps quite detached from the old dark 0.48 style. It might take a while for me to get used to (I'm a pretty dark-loving person), but I'm working on it.
I can predict up to 30% of the people sticking with 0.48 due to this total upgrade. At this rate you can almost call 0.49 as TCE Beta 2, but I digress.
Here are my likes and qualms:
Likes:
1) Stellar graphics that can beat CSS anytime.
2) More realism
3) Movement sounds
4) Climbing
5) 3 modes clearly cut
6) Good menu remake
7) More sophisticated maps
Qualms:
1) Team arrows gone
2) Less VChats
3) Shooting sounds remain unrealistic
4) No new weapons, but I'm not so bothered by this
5) Not enough wall-climbing opportunities
6) Forced widescreen
Overall, this is a splendidly well done upgrade. I await TT/G6's further additions to this...I'm sure they'll make this a lot better in the future.
