Speed of the bullet is higher then the speed of sound, so when you recieve a headshot, you should not be able to hear the sound of it (if it is fatal).

true, but when you are dead you can still hear all the other shots around. itd be kinda cool if when you got killed the screen turned black and silent until you pressed spacebar. so that could kinda add that effect of dieing.

then it would lose the vintage Woflenstein effect. It just wouldnt be the same game after that. Plus i like seeing what happens afterwards.

maybe headshots could be used as an award system, to unlock weapons, like 5 headshot = 1-2 aa or smth.. headshots must be credited in games.. even realistic games..

its not that hard to get a headshot, so rewarding people would be too easy.

i could get 5 head shots in 5 kills in five mins. anyway, The system you are suggestiong would contridict the current way of obtaining AA.

no one likes the aa system. what people want, is ALL weapons available AS STANDARD LOADOUT. THAT, is realistic.

Incorrect assumption, the speed of sound in air, is slower then the bullet. However, the speed of sound in solid (your skull) is much faster, and you do in fact hear a rather horrible and deafiningly loud crunching sound if your head hit and live to tell about it -- as some have.

So, a rather horrible sound is the last thing you'd likely preceive as you rather quicly loose consciousness (which isn't as instant as you might assume, even with rather gruesome head shots)...

perhaps coroner would consent to be shot in the head and asked what it felt like, if he were offered enough money?

If you really have that kind of morbid fascination, you can read first hand accounts of people that have been head shot and lived -- there are plenty...

I convolved a really nice HTRF head shot sound for NS:CO that almost always had people jumping out of their seats everytime they were head shot; a really fun sound that always surprised and stunned players even when they were anticipating getting hit -- NS:CO Fans loved it...

Headshots are something I must request, I'm a fairly good sniper, and the snipers in this game are good, but when I pull the trigger for a headshot, it's almost like the head isn't there, it just goes straight through them, it would be nice to see that, I ask for the rifles and the sniper rifles because I can use them, but no headshots isn't cool. But come to think of it, even if it's not a head shot they usually die, hmm, but still, headshots would be nice. I got another idea for a weapon, an MSG-90, pic here http://www.world.guns.ru/sniper/sn27-e.htm , very nice gun, it's sorta like the big brother to the PSG-1, I've had the chance to fire an MSG and they are very smooth, very accurate and somewhat quiet for a sniper, all you really get is this quick kind of loud bang. very nice gun if you ask me.
