i think the knife stabbing in CQB should only be a forward stab, thats more realistic because you can kill someone with a forward stab but its hard to kill someone with a slash.

Who remembers the dogs used to bomb tanks or dolphins used to detect mines ?
You see the point ? there is no limit in the death creativity.
(sorry for offtopic).

Well, it's not entirely stupidity... military uses such methods sometimes. However, I still can't stop laughing about the little carbomb xD At this rate, the franchise will develop into another Bulletstorm-like fps (new game by Epic... crazy if you ask me xD).

Sooo how many ways are in tce to kill somebody?
getting shot down, blown up by nade (frag, flash or smoke), falling to death, using the /kill command xD, using knife... what did i forget?

I'm not complaining, this is just offtopic talk to kill time :P

I'd say it's a fair bet he has spent a lot of time weeding and rooting through JC's source release for ET; and there will be some interesting news when he surfaces...

Few curious questions.. Without overhauling the engine, does the source being released allow for performance gains on our end? (like a tune-up, even with new machines, ET still loads kinda slow and there are places in maps that have large FPS drops) Also, what about multi-threading? How hard is it to make use of multi-core CPUs?

Yeah multithread now

Im interested does it double my fps then :D

Hey topic im curious if this would become stand alone why it does lose pb support? I mean urban terror haves option to turn pb on if you have instaled standalone version in quake 3 folder :O so why it didnt lose support ?

Using multithread technoligy requires tweaking the engine, which we can't do.

about the urban terror thing:

Quote:
Originally, Urban Terror (as a Quake III Arena mod) used the PunkBuster anti-cheating technology built into Quake III Arena. As PunkBuster does not support modified versions of the ID Tech 3 engine[15], the standalone version of Urban Terror 4.1 had no working anti-cheat system. An independent anti-cheat is also being developed by Virtual Dark Arts, known as Virtual Dark Arts Anti-Cheat (VDAC).[16]

Well now im confused

ET source was just released so how we cant... (oops pb support ?)

Yes pb is not integrated in urban terror but if you do instal urban terror in your quake 3 arena folder and launch trough mod menu you can play with others + use punkbuster with other guys who do the same :?

Technically you could get multithreading and fix the fps bottleneck in hte engine but that would mean editing the engine code. When you do that, PB cannot and will not support the game.
